Metalik AD manufactured the steel part of the construction of the three pedestrian bridges on the ring road of Sofia
The installation of the first two of them started 10 days ago - also carried out by the installation teams of the holding from Stara Zagora. It is now being completed successfully, and the third overpass is still being made in the workshops of Metalik.
The first of the three pedestrian overpasses connects the section of the Sofia Ring Road between the connection with the Trakia Highway and Mladost district. The facility is next to the exit for the village of Lozen and will serve future public transport stations. The steel pedestrian bridge is 49 meters long, about 4 meters wide and 5.5 meters high. Each of the three facilities weighs about 70 tons. They are designed by the design bureau "Ircon" Ltd., which have extensive experience in the complex design of industrial and public buildings. The overpasses are made of large profiles of special structural steel with tight bolted connections.
"In the factory conditions of Metalik a complete pre-assembly of the equipment was made by collecting the particularly critical units, such as the bolted connections, as well as the welded seams on them," said the chief engineer of "Metalik" AD- Georgi Zhelyazkov. The quality control of the construction is performed 100% with an ultrasound scanner and radiography. The metal parts of the pedestrian overpasses are treated with a three-layer system for applying a special coating, which guarantees stability and strength over time.
